East-West Parkway July 2010: The South Shore Tri-Town Development Corporation awarded a design-build contract to Barletta Heavy Division, Inc. (BHD) of Canton, Massachusetts to construct the eastern segment of the first phase of the East-West Parkway (Station 109+00 to Weymouth Street). Site work commenced in October 2010. January 2011: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation awarded a design-build contract to SPS New England, Inc. (SPS) of Salisbury, Massachusetts to construct the western segment of the first phase of the East-West Parkway (Hangar 1/Shea Memorial Drive to Station 109+00). Project Updates 2010 – Q4 - Installation of erosion and sedimentation controls, clearing & grubbing, rough grading, screening and stockpiling from Station 109+00 to Station 128+00 (eastern boundary of the former NAS South Weymouth). - Construction of eastern box turtle habitat management areas 5 and 6. - Installation of peat settlement platforms and all pre-load fill material on the east and west sides of Old Swamp River. - Site housekeeping and soil stabilization prior to winter conditions.
